A summary of what we offer
We are a hand building and wheel throwing teaching studio working with red terracotta and white earthenware clay, coloured slips and a range of glazes. We love alternative firings and try to include one each term, such as smoke, sawdust, raku and more. Beginners are welcome to join at any time and we teach you the basics of hand building or throwing over eight or so sessions. More experienced potters are supported to work on their own projects.
Classes take place on
- Monday evenings (6pm to 8.30pm)
- Tuesday mornings (10am to 12.30pm)
- Tuesday afternoons (3pm to 5.30pm)
- Wednesday evenings (6pm to 8.30pm)
- Saturday mornings (10am to 12.30pm)
- Saturday afternoons (2pm to 4.30pm)
If you enrol as a regular student, the cost is R2100 per month for a weekly class – payable in advance and we request a month’s notice if you decide to leave. The monthly fee includes all materials and firings (within reason).
Payment of one month’s fees will secure your place.
Missed classes can be made up at any time. Classes are not charged on a pro-rata basis and missed classes cannot be offset against fees. If there is a fifth week in a month, we treat this as a bonus class and it can be offset against missed classes.
If you prefer to sign-up on a month-by-month basis (ie not enrol as a regular student), the cost is R2500 per month.
If you want a once-off clay experience, we recommend our monthly First Friday event (on the First Friday of each month from 18h00 to 21h00), the cost is R700 per person.
